In Hebrew the meaning of the name Janet is: Gift from God. In English the meaning of the name Janet is: God has been gracious. My mom would say both are true.
I was born 3 weeks late, or as my mom says, I was just taking my time until I was ready. It was before ultrasounds and even though she already had 2 boys, she was convinced I would be a girl. She had bought all girl clothes and everything in the nursery was pink.. She also had prayed for my eyes to be brown and my hair blonde. (My mom is not shy about being specific in her prayer requests.) I was born with blue eyes, just like my 2 older brothers, however at 6 months of age, I am told, I started getting little brown flecks in my eyes. They turned completely brown and have remained ever since.
Since I am the youngest of 3 and the only girl, I grew up with life revolving around me. My dad became a pastor when I was 5 and I have grown up in the church, doing every kind of ministry possible. I fell in love and was married at the age of 18 and a half. (That half is important) 4 months after I turned 20 I had my firstborn son Stephan. 19 months later I had his brother Robert Jr., 19 months after that I had Abigail. Then we paused for 6 and one half years before we had David, a baby who is in heaven (I call her Emily, although I don't know her sex) and Olivia. Almost 5 years ago, we brought a young 17 year old woman into our home and she has become my 6th living child; her name is Toni.
I have been married for 21 years. I have 5 kids by birth and 1 kid by heart. I have homeschooled my kids for over 13 years now. My husband is a pastor, a chaplain for the San Diego Police Department, and most of all, a servant to God. I oversee the women's ministry at my church. I write, I speak, I teach all things related to the Word of God. I grew up being reminded by my mom (Yes, she has had a huge influence in my life.) that I am a handmaiden of the Lord. (handmaid - a female servant).
